A small foot note to the NaNoWriMo post.
I mentioned that I believe fate plays a hand in the things that happen in my life.  The chain of events that led me to completing MIMA MALONE AND THE MAD BAD INVENTOR were not planned by me.  I had expected to spend the whole of November writing my 1984 story but had to scoop up Mima when I realised the problem with re-imagining a story written less than 80 years ago.
I am so glad I did though as, not only did I have an absolute ball writing a story that is essentially about an evil inventor and a bunch of children who decide he needs investigating and sorting out, but the synopsis and opening chapters I had sent to a SCBWI competition would turn out to be the winning entry!
I was delighted to get an e-mail at the weekend telling me this story had been chosen by a really brilliant agent, Hellie Ogden, as the winner and that my prize is a 1-2-1 with her to discuss it further.
I have subsequently been through and done a second edit and now it's not in too shabby a shape to take with me when I go and see her.  Very exciting times!
